What is the Express Edition? And what is the OutSystems Platform?

The Express Edition allows companies and independent developers to download the OutSystems Platform and start working with it, benefiting from immediate results and no upfront costs for up to five registered users.

The OutSystems Platform is an innovative platform to create, deploy, operate, and maintain applications that are built-to-change. Applications can be fully integrated with existing enterprise systems via Web Services or custom connectors and reach all users through the best fit internet and mobile interfaces. OutSystems Platform includes the following components:

OutSystems Service Studio: A visual environment that empowers any class of application designer to create, change, and automatically deploy enterprise applications. The 1-Click Remote Deployment technology enables automatic application deployment in any environment in minutes.

OutSystems Integration Studio: A visual environment used to create connectors for integrating with existing enterprise systems. Once published, these connectors are simple to use within OutSystems Service Studio as visual building blocks to compose applications.

OutSystems Platform Server: A runtime platform that orchestrates all runtime, deployment, and management activities for every application designed with the OutSystems Service Studio in a standard application server infrastructure.

OutSystems Service Center: A centralized management console that coordinates the administration, monitoring, auditing, operation and deployment of all applications and integration components.

6.

Is my OutSystems application locked-in to the Platform?
All your applications created and maintained in the OutSystems Platform can be extracted and deployed on top of a standard Java or .NET application server without resorting to the OutSystems Platform tools and services. However, if you do so, you’ll lose all the application life-cycle management capabilities of the OutSystems Platform.
